Biography
Dr. Gayle Glenn is the Graduate Orthodontic Clinic Director and a Clinical Associate Professor at Texas A&M School of Dentistry. She is a graduate of Texas Tech University and received her DDS degree from the University of Texas Dental School in San Antonio. She went on to receive her MSD degree and specialty certificate in orthodontics from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1984.
Dr. Glenn practiced orthodontics in Dallas, Texas for over 35 years and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. She taught part-time as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Dentistry from 1988 to 1995. In 2016, she rejoined the faculty in the Orthodontic Department of Texas A&M School of Dentistry.
Active in many local, state, and regional dental organizations, Dr. Glenn is a past-president of both the Texas Association of Orthodontists and the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists. She served as president of the American Association of Orthodontists in 2013-14 and was the first woman to hold this elected leadership position.
Dr. Glenn has been the recipient of numerous professional awards including the Lucy Hobbs Taylor Award, the highest award given by the American Association of Women Dentists (2020). Other honors include the Trailblazer Award from the Texas Orthodontic Study Club (2019), which recognized Glenn as the first female member of that organization, the Life-time Achievement Award from the Dallas County Dental Society (2018), and the Martin Dewey Award from the Southwestern Society of Orthodontists (2015).
Dr. Glenn is a fellow in both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, organizations that recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the profession. She is the 2023-2024 Chair of the National Commission on Recognition of Dental Specialties and Certifying Boards.
