Dr. Nancy W. Burkhart
Dr. Burkhart is an Adjunct Professor and Educational Consultant in The Department of Periodontics at The College of Dentistry where she has been a faculty member for since January, 1997. Throughout her appointment, she has been a faculty member and lecturer for The Stomatology Center at College of Dentistry. Prior to her appointment at the College of Dentistry, she was an Assistant Professor at The University of North Carolina College of Dentistry for nine years teaching in both the dental hygiene and the oral diagnosis department/oral pathology division. Dr. Burkhart has held appointments at The College of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, New Jersey and at Wake Technical Community College, Raleigh, North Carolina where she taught Oral Pathology to allied health students.
Dr. Burkhart is active in the following professional organizations: The International Association For Dental Research, The American Association of Dental Research (past Dallas, Texas Chapter Secretary/Treasurer), The Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society, The American Dental Education Association, The Association For Psychological Type, and The American Academy of Oral Medicine.
In addition to the formation of The International Support Group for Oral Lichen Planus, Dr. Burkhart has presented papers on the subject of Oral Lichen Planus and has published articles on the topic in national dental journals.
