Biography
Dr. Ehab Shehata is a Board-Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, with over 30 years of experience in medical and dental surgery. He earned his medical degree from the University of Alexandria, in Egypt, in 1988, followed by a master’s degree, in general surgery in 1993, a dental degree in 1997 and a doctorate in 2005. In 2003, he completed a Fellowship, at Guy’s and St Thomas’ University Hospitals, in London.
Over the past decade, Dr. Shehata has served on the faculty, at the University of Kentucky, and as a Pre-Doctoral Program Director, at the University of Maryland. He is currently an Associate Professor, at Alexandria University’s College of Dentistry, in Egypt.
In 2021, Dr. Shehata joined the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry, and currently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor. He also serves as a staff surgeon at Baylor University Medical Center, Harris Methodist, in Fort Worth, and Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he helps train nearly 20 residents each year.
He serves as Course Director for Medical Emergencies at both the Texas A&M College of Dentistry and the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene, where he lectures on a wide range of advanced topics in his specialty. His recent contributions to oral surgery curriculum updates have been well received. In addition, he serves on the Faculty Development and Credentialing Committee, at the College.
In 2023, Dr. Shehata completed the Association of College and University Educators’ (ACUE) eight-month course in Effective Teaching Practices, having been nominated by Texas A&M University. In 2024, he was named a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
As a Head and Neck Cancer Surgeon, Dr. Shehata treats complex cases, involving temporomandibular joint disease and craniofacial-skeletal deformities. He is a national and international speaker and pioneered a minimally invasive parotid surgery technique. His research contributions include 17 peer-reviewed publications, two book chapters, and ongoing service as a scientific reviewer for two international journals.
