Biography

Dr. Naresh Yedthare Shetty is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, with over 20 years of experience in clinical practice, medical education, and dental innovation. He currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor, in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, at the Texas A&M University College of Dentistry.

Dr. Shetty holds a PhD in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and has earned multiple Fellowships from prestigious institutions, including the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Edinburgh, and Glasgow. He is also a Diplomate and Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health, in the United Kingdom. His academic journey includes advanced training in artificial intelligence in health care from Stanford University and a postgraduate diploma in innovation and design thinking from MIT, Columbia Business School, and Dartmouth.

Before joining Texas A&M University, Dr. Shetty was an Associate Professor, in the Department of Clinical Sciences, at Ajman University’s College of Dentistry. Previously, he held Faculty and Leadership Positions at universities in Malaysia, Libya, and India. He served as Associate Dean and Head of Division at the International Medical University School of Dentistry, in Kuala Lumpur, where he also led the design and launch of a postgraduate diploma program in implant dentistry.

An active researcher, Dr. Shetty focuses on implantology, bone grafting, taste disturbances and oral-antral communications. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters, including work in high-impact journals and a chapter in Dental Implants: Materials, Coatings, Surface Modifications and Interfaces with Oral Tissues (Elsevier). His scholarly activity is supported by national and international grants, and he regularly serves as a speaker and workshop facilitator at conferences around the world.

In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Shetty plays a key role in curriculum development and quality assurance, and he has received multiple honors for educational leadership, including the Asia-GCC Education Leadership Award and the Global Excellence and Leadership in Education Award.
