Biography

Education and Post-Graduate Training

Amanda McNiel currently serves as Clinical Faculty in the Dental Hygiene Program at the Texas
A&M College of Dentistry.

Professor McNiel received her Associate of Applied Science from Collin County Community
College, Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from Texas A&M College of Dentistry, and
Master of Science in Education of Dental Health Professionals from Texas A&M College of
Dentistry.

She has more than 20 years of experience in clinical practice as a registered dental hygienist in
the areas of general, cosmetic, periodontal, and hospital dentistry. She has a commitment to
working in the public health sector providing dental hygiene services to underserved,
immunocompromised, oncology, and transplant recipients.

Professor McNiel is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, Texas
Dental Hygienists’ Association, Dallas Dental Hygienists’ Association, Association for Dental
Safety, Dental Hygiene Educators of Texas, and American Dental Education Association.

She currently serves as course director for Perspectives of Dental Hygiene, Gerontology, and co-
course director of Professional Ethics. Additional clinical teaching responsibilities are in Clinical
Dental Hygiene courses I-IV and as the lead clinical dental hygiene faculty on the North Dallas
Shared Ministries rotation.
