Biography
Education and Post-Graduate Training
Dr. Carlos Parra, originally from Barcelona, Spain, graduated from the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya (UIC) Dental School in 2009. He completed a Clinical Residency in Periodontology at UIC (2009-2010) and served as a pre-doctoral clinical instructor while conducting research on oropharyngeal dysphagia and oral hygiene (2011-2012). Dr. Parra practiced dentistry in Barcelona from 2009 to 2012.
In 2012, he moved to the U.S. to earn a Certificate in Periodontics from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2015. He then joined Texas A&M College of Dentistry as a Clinical Assistant Professor. In 2016, Dr. Parra received the Leslie M. Salkin Award for the highest score on the American Board of Periodontology Oral Examination, as well as other notable fellowships, including the American Academy Foundation Fellowship to the Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL) and the Bud & Linda Tarrson Fellowship Award.
Dr. Parra became Graduate Program Director of Periodontology at Texas A&M in 2021 and was promoted to Clinical Associate Professor in 2023. Since 2022, he has also served as an Oral Examiner for the American Board of Periodontology.
A frequent lecturer at national and international conferences, Dr. Parra’s main interests include soft tissue enhancement and dental implants.
