Planning and Assessment in the Office of Academic Affairs supports the College of Dentistry in continuous improvement by providing leadership, strategic planning, assessment of student learning and student progress across the curriculum and the clinical environment.
Our Goal:
- To build sound assessment plans for our programs, including dental hygiene, DDS and graduate programs;
- To draw meaningful conclusions from student learning outcomes;
- To use a data driven approach to provide direction for following and improving assessment plans;
- To develop and maintain a college strategic plan for providing direction to achieve our own unique vision in line with that of the Health Science Center and Texas A&M University;
- To ensure our assessment strategies are in compliance with standards outlined by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Activities Include:
- Providing leadership and oversight of student, faculty, and college assessment
- Developing assessment strategies for improving course-related learning
- Creating and disseminating annual assessment reports, including the strategic plan for the college, that augment planning for continued development and improvement of college programs and student success
- Developing and managing internal and external assessment reports for Texas A&M University, the CODA and the SACS
- Analyzing the college assessment processes for continuous improvement
