Biography
Dr. Neubert earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery and PhD in Oral Biology at the University of California Los
Angeles. He earned specialty certificates in both Orofacial Pain and Dysfunction (UCLA), and Orthodontics
and Dentofacial Orthopedics from the University of Florida. Dr. Neubert was a faculty member at the
University of Florida from 2003 to 2024, rising in the ranks to achieve Professor with tenure. He was an
affiliate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
Previously he served as the Director of predoctoral orthodontic education.
Dr. Neubert is an established translational researcher, and his work is recognized worldwide. He has over
22 years of experience building and maintaining an active translational research program with over $10.67
million ($7.6 million as P.I., $3 million as Co-Investigator) in grants from The National Institutes of Health (NIH), foundations, industry, and university sources.
His research focus is the neurobiology of pain, specifically in the trigeminal system, with recent projects
expanding to understanding the role of opioids and cannabinoids on pain and substance use behaviors.
Additional interests include understanding the role of expectations (e.g., placebo effects) in pain behaviors
and investigating novel analgesic therapeutics, particularly in the area of orofacial pain management.
