About Oral Pathology Services

Texas A&M University College of Dentistry has a long and proud history of providing exemplary service to the practicing community through its Imaging Center, Stomatology Center, and biopsy service. The biopsy service began in 1980 and was provided by Drs. William H. Binnie, E James Cundiff, and John M Wright. The biopsy service thrived and became one of the largest biopsy services in the county. The service today is one of the largest databases of oral pathology in the world and serves as a vital research resource for the faculty and provides opportunities to collaborate with colleagues worldwide to investigate various aspects of head and neck pathology. Additionally, it provides extensive experience in surgical pathology for the residents training in oral and maxillofacial pathology where it offers the department a competitive advantage in the recruitment of residents.

The service today is provided by Dr. Victoria Woo, Dr. Leticia Ferreira Cabido, Dr. Madhu Shrestha and Dr. John Wright. All are board certified, and Dr. Wright is a past president of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Additionally, Drs Woo and Wright were invited by the World Health Organization to serve on the Expert Panel who produced the current 2022 WHO Classification of Head and Neck Tumors. Because of the pathologists’ commitment to provide the best diagnostic service available and our commitment to train residents in the discipline, the pathologists are committed to keeping abreast of new developments in the field of head and neck pathology. All the pathology faculty are available for clinical and or radiographic consultations as well as advice about management of current cases. Phone calls, emails and texts are encouraged.

We sincerely appreciate and take seriously the trust you have placed in us to provide anatomic pathology interpretation for your patients. We thank you for allowing us to contribute to the care of your patients. We are here to serve you and your patients in any way we can.
