For Referring Clinicians

Oral Pathology Services at Texas A&M University School of Dentistry is a specialty oral pathology laboratory service dedicated to providing the highest quality of diagnostic care for your patients with pathologic conditions/lesions affecting the mouth and head and neck region. The service is provided by four board-certified oral and maxillofacial pathologists. OPS began in 1980 and grew into one of the largest oral biopsy services in the country. Accordingly, it is one of the largest databases of oral pathology in the world. It is a primary source of research for the School of Dentistry’s faculty and graduate students who have published extensively in scientific literature, contributing significantly to our evolving understanding of head and neck disease.

How to use the service

OPS provides free biopsy kits and pays for their return. Biopsy kits can be obtained by calling 214.828.8111, emailing oralpath@tamu.edu, or completing the request biopsy kit form.

Clinical and/or radiographic consultation

One of the major advantages of utilizing an oral pathology lab is direct access to the oral pathologists. We are always available to review clinical images and/or radiographic images with you. We are also able to discuss treatment options and advise about the best way to manage patients once the diagnosis is determined. Contact information about the oral pathologists is under pathologists.
