MS and PhD Degrees

Degree Programs

Texas A&M College of Dentistry provides advanced graduate education leading to an MS degree in Oral Biology. Clinical specialty students in programs requiring a graduate degree enroll in the MS Program in Oral Biology Clinical Track.

Master of Science in Oral Biology

(Clinical Track)

The Master of Science in Oral Biology Clinical Track is available to graduate students who are simultaneously pursuing a specialty certificate. This program is designed to extend the competence of the dental specialist in both general and specialized areas of practice in clinical disciplines. Only students who are accepted and enrolled in one of the clinical specialty certificate programs are eligible for the MS Oral Biology Clinical Track.

Oral Biology (MS) or Oral and Craniofacial Biomedical Sciences (PhD)

(Basic Science Track)

This Graduate Program is an individualized, interdisciplinary advanced training program leading to an MS in Oral Biology or a PhD in Oral and Craniofacial Biomedical Sciences in areas of basic biomedical science that have strong clinical relevance. This program is designed primarily for outstanding DDS/DMD and dental specialty students who are interested in academic careers as basic scientists and clinician-scientists in the dental health sciences. Students who plan to matriculate into a clinical specialty certificate program at the College of Dentistry may be considered for either an MS or PhD, with the approval of the clinical program director and after consultation with the Oral Biology program director. The Oral Biology and Oral and Craniofacial Biomedical Sciences Basic Science Tracks are administered by the Department of Biomedical Sciences. Adding either the MS or PhD to your clinical certificate curriculum will increase the number of hours and the time in residence on campus.
